A man came to my door and said he had noticed that my driveway was cracked and that he could fix it. He was short with a lot of tattoos and was smoking. He said that if I put a sign in my yard he would give me a discount. He did a little patching and then wanted me to pay him so that he could get the materials for the job. He wanted cash and I said I did not have cash on me, so he drove me to the bank. As it was Memorial Day, the bank was closed. He asked if I had an ATM card, which I did not as I am 87 years old. He then said that he would take a check. When I asked what was the name of the business to make the check out to, he had a long discussion with a woman that was with him. Finally he said make it out to Sophia Evans. I gave him a check in the amount of $470. I then got a piece of paper/pen and started to write down his license plate number. He ran to the back of his truck and covered it up & drove off. The next day I went to the bank and put a stop payment on the check & paid the $31 to stop it. He was driving a white pick up with a back seat. (This happened in Brown County, Green Bay WI on 5/29/17)
