Right off the bat they asked me for my name and birthdate, which I answered automatically. A man called me saying that he was Officer Morris Bryant and that there were claims and an outstanding warrant for my arrest against my name. He gave me his badge number and the case’s file number and was very convincing that this was legitimate. At this point, I gave the last four digits of my social to confirm my identity so that he would elaborate on the charges he was alluding to that were being held against me. He told me a story about a car, a Toyota, that was left in El Paso had been linked to my name and that there were drugs (cocaine) found in the vehicle. Throughout his story, he tried to get other information from me. Asking me if I had ever worked in Texas (which I had), or rented a car previously, what banks I used, and what type of car I owned. He continued to pressure me and intimidate me over the phone into giving out this information under the threat that if I did not comply that I would be arrested – even though I was denying all of these events had anything to do with me and insisting if any of this had any truth that my identity had been stolen. The number he called from was from North Carolina, but he claimed to be in Boston where the headquarters of the Social Security Administration is.

I never answer a phone call from a number I don’t now. I let my cell phone voice mail take the message. So I was checking my voice mail and this number was stored as 866-134-5030. At first it was a computer leaving a voice mail then all of a sudden a lady’s voice came on and in a very threatening tone of voice said this call is from the Social Security Administration through Law Enforcement and that my SSN was being compromised and because of this my SSN is suspended until I resolve the situation and all benefits are frozen until I resolve the situation. Then said I needed to call back right away or this could get worse. I had a co-worker have this very same call and she did get scammed. I called my local police and they had no clue on how to help me report this. There was all kinds of red flags and that is what got me suspicious. Please, 1) the Social Security Administration would never threaten a person’s benefits and 2) SSN would be corresponding by mail only and would never request/demand money as that is what happened to my co-worker. And, of course, after the news report on things like this almost every day I am always on my guard. Please be cautious people.

They claimed that someone has used my social security card and name for identity scam and involved with drug traffic and opening bank accounts with high balance and some kind of problems with the law that really scared me, i explained i had a credit karma account and i was monitoring my credit the last few days and no issues was going on, besides i was outside the country for three years and been back for a month, the caller said my social was given to rent a car from Texas, i never been to Texas, the caller said he was a chief at the social security administration office, his wife came online and kids were in the back round yelling, he was trying to get more information from me and i stopped giving him information.

he gave me a name:

Sean Marshall employee Id: 9875017

and transferred me to another chief of social security admin, his employee id is: 55520089

They really scared me up mentioning there was blood spots where my social security card and id were found in a stolen rented card under my name .

On August 19. 2019 at 3:43 PM Eastern Time in New York, I received a call from 808-525-5106 Haiku, HI. It was a robocall stating that they were from the Social Security Administration. Due to suspicious activity on my account, my account has been frozen. Please press 1 for more information. A man with a foreign accent answered and said "Thank you for calling the Social Security Administration. Can you please state the reason for your call?" I then said "You guys called me". He then laughed hysterically and hung up on me. I immediately hit redial and got a message saying the phone number has been disconnected or is no longer active.

I was contacted by 315-284-5238 this morning 8/15 around 10:25am. They left a voicemail saying that the Social Security Information had information about me that could lead to an arrest. I was very confused but did call back. The person that picked up said he was an officer and gave me his name and badge number. He gave me a case number and warrant ID. They asked for my address and how much my rent was. I gave this information to them. They asked me for the last four digits of my SSN. Unfortunately, I gave them this as well. Before I gave it to them, I asked several times if they could verify that this was the Social Security Administration. He stated several times that the government was recording this call and me doubting the validity of this call could be held against me in court. He then told me that my name was registered to a car in Texas found with cocaine and blood in it. They also gave me specific addresses that they said were tied to the crime in Houston and Texas. They said they had several pieces of information tying me to this crime. I was extremely scared because I knew this wasn’t me. They told me I wasn’t allowed to hang up or disconnect the line. I had to stay on speaker and was not allowed to mute the call or tell anyone about it. I was told if I hung up, it meant I was admitting guilt and that the authorities would come arrest me. They also said that this crime was a Federal Offense and could lead to 9 years of jail time. Additionally during a later point in my call, they wanted to know what bank accounts I had and credits cards + credit limits. They did not ask for specific account numbers. At some point, they thanked me for cooperating and said they would transfer me to a "higher authority" to start addressing this case. When I was transferred, I was told that my social security number needed to be suspended and a new one would be issued to me. For this to happen, I first needed to withdraw all of my money from my savings and checking accounts and put them into government bonds. This is where I started to feel very suspicious and questioned again how I could verify this was the SSA. The guy on the phone started being very threatening and raising his voice. He said I could do whatever I wanted but that the authorities would come arrest me because hanging up meant admitting guilt. At this point, I had a meeting I couldn’t miss at work, so I messaged my boss to let her know something had come up and that I was scared but couldn’t tell her why (I felt like I was being held hostage by the person on the phone). She came to the room and I told the person on the phone that I needed to go to the bathroom. I put him on mute (even tho he told me I shouldn’t) and gave a quick overview of what was happening to my boss. Then, she told me this wasn’t the way the legal system works and that it seemed like a scam. I unmuted and tried to again ask for verification that this was the SSA and if he could provide written documentation. He started getting very threatening and raising his voice. At this point, my boss was nodding at me to hang up so I trusted her and did. We did some Google research and it seemed that this was a very elaborate scam that has unfortunately been happening to a lot of people. She recommended I report this to the SSA and Better Business Bureau.

This number called my cell phone number leaving a voicemail informing legal actions on my Social Security Number. I called the number from a landline and the person that answered had a strange accent and stated he was Officer Sam from the Social Security Administration. I told him I didn’t believe he was who he says or that he’s really calling from where he says he’s calling from. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he said ple[censored]d. The call ended after that.

Phone call from Social Security Administration New Port Richey, FL as it appeared across my iPhone screen. This is how I identify it in my iPhone contacts. I answered then there was a slight pause. An ominous automated voice said “Your Social Security account has been suspended due to suspicious illegal activity. Press 1 to speak to an agent.” I immediately hung up and looked at the phone number displayed in my Recent Calls. The number was presented exactly as I have the Social Security Office listing in my Contacts list. It included both the local New Port Richey, FL and the main phone number for the Social Security Administration. I called the New Port Richey Office but they were closed because it’s Black Friday. Then I called the Main SSA number but there was an hour wait on hold. I hung up. 4-1/2 hours later I received another call from the New Port Richey number. I did not answer. I blocked the caller, which unfortunately includes both of the SSA phone numbers I have listed in my Contacts.

I received a call from an Officer Austin. He stated that I had open warrants for money laundering and drug trafficking. He started asking personal information like my address and then for my social security number. I advised him that I needed to contact my local SS office and hung up.

I received an automated call claiming to be from the Social Security Administration on a Saturday morning. (First red flag: government agency calling on a Saturday? Right.) The call claimed my “Social” had been compromised by illegal activity and I needed to speak with someone immediately to protect my “Social” and my financial assets. (Red flag number two: the SSA would never refer to itself as your “Social.”)

At that point I hung up. I have better things to do on my Saturday morning than talk to scammers.

I got a voicemail from someone claiming to be from the DEA, Homeland Security and Social Security Administration claiming that I needed to call them right away. I called and they asked me for the "time that I got my phone call". I told them the time then they asked for my name. I did not give any of my personal information. They would not tell me what they were calling about and I hung up. The gentleman had a foreign accent. I still have the recorded voicemail on my cell phone. Note my phone number area code is from california but i live in Ohio.

I received two phone calls today from Essex, Maryland 1(443)579-5816. I didn’t answer first one. Answered second one. Said he (very pronounced east Indian accent) was from the Social Security Administration – said he was a senior agent and gave me a badge number and assured me it was legit. Asked if the number I was calling from was the one where the call came in – I said yes. I told him I wasn’t going to give him any information. He said to rest assured he had all my information and that my social security number was being used fraudulently in Texas. It was then that I hung up. Looked up the local (Boise, ID) Social Security office number and called them. Our office here said that didn’t sound like something any of their offices would do and suggested I file this fraud information and then set up my account on line so I could see if anything looked odd. Our agent here stated that he didn’t see anything unusual. No application for benefits, no address changes, no requests for new card, nothing. He verified the last card issued and it did coincide with a date that would be correct. Thank you for looking into this.

I just got a call from a guy with a very heavy foreign accent saying he was in Washington and calling from the Social Security Administration. He said that my Social Security would be increasing as of the 3rd of May and I should have received a packet of information in a big white envelope. I said I had not and he told me I would.

He said he was calling to confirm my details and he had my name and address but asked if I had a middle initial. I told him that I did but if he worked for social security then he would know what that was. He then started talking about my social security being paid into my bank. I told him I wasn’t going to talk to him anymore as I knew it was a scam and I hung up.
