Type of a scam Online Purchase
The Skinnyfit website offers a trial size bag of their Detox tea and ZZTox tea for $9.95 a bag. After purchasing the trial bag, it automatically switches to a subscription service. What they don’t tell you is that you will be charged for the retail price of their trial bags if you do not respond to them in 18 days. When I called customer service about it, the employee stated that it was in the terms and conditions. Here is the section of the terms & conditions on this specific issue:
"Trial – Renewal and Cancellation Terms
If you are offered a trial of our product, and you sign up for the trial, you will get to try the product for 18 days from the date of your purchase. You are responsible for shipping charges when you order a trial. When you check out, it will tell you the exact date that your credit card will be charged if you do not cancel your trial. You have until that date (which is 18 days from the date you order the trial of the product) to contact us to cancel your trial. Upon the expiration of the trial period, you will be automatically enrolled into a monthly subscription of the product, and the payment card you provided at the time of enrollment in the trial program will be billed in the amount specified at checkout and the product shipped thirty (30) days after the date you started the trial and each month thereafter unless and until you cancel. We may use an account updater to automatically update your credit card information in the event it changes, in which case, your renewal will be billed to the updated account information. To cancel your trial, simply call us at 1-888-862-1758 or email us at [email protected] before the expiration of the trial period. You are responsible for the shipping charges to ship the product back to us if you cancel."
Nowhere in the line of text does it clarify that I would I be charged twice for a trial bags. It’s fraudulent and deceiving. Not only do they lie on their website but also over the phone. When I read the terms & conditions to the customer service rep, he automatically offered to cancelling the service and refunding everything.
