Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
A "woman" by the name of "Mary" texted me after seeing my listing for sale on Craigslist. "She" texted me saying I want to buy your item and I’m going to send you full price. Respond to this text with your email. Some of these texts will say send me all your information and I will mail you a check.
A $15,000 check to my office came in an overnight. The red flag was she sent a check for an item she see. I called her to confirm we got a check and it wasn’t legitimate. The person doing this scam will use plain names including Sam.
