Type of a scam Government Grant

Scammer hacked a former classmate’s facebook account, sent friend request (which I accepted), then said I qualified for an International Monetary Fund grant from $50,000 to $5,000,000. Depending on the amount I chose I would have to send money first (e.g., $800 for $50,000 grant) and then would receive cash or check (my choice) within 8 hours. Based on the grammar used and punctuation used I realized it was a scam and declined to go further. Scammer tried very hard to convince me. I unfriended both the classmate’s facebook page and the Reid Lashel facebook page immediately, obtained information to file this complaint from my local ScamPulse.com and here you have it. Unfortunately, before I realized this was a scam they obtained my name, address, phone, email, income amount but no account numbers. (I should have known better.)
