Type of a scam Employment

The other day I applied for a job as a Virtual Office Assistant via LinkedIn. The job description provided an email to send my resume to, which I did. After getting the latest email from Carol, I knew it was a scam and reported it as such on LinkedIn. Below is the email exchange:

Hello TK,

I am rest assured that you are eligible to take up the position.

You first assignment is a proficiency assignment which will be used to assess your proficiency. A meeting will be setup with you after the first task to give you feedback on your performance and sign necessary paperwork.

This virtual assistant position requires a printer and licensed application software. A pay check of $2950 will be sent to you which will cover:

1. Your first week pay of $400

2. The money for the printer.

3. The money for licensed application software.

The printer, papers and licensed application software will be sent to your address by our independent seller after payment is made by you. This is the reason for this check.

The printer and licensed application software are essential to perform the virtual assistance task successfully.

Kindly send your full name as it should be on the check, valid mobile number and address of where the check should be sent to.
