Type of a scam Romance
I am reporting this on behalf of my mother, who is in her early 70s. I believe in October 2019, she was contacted on FB by a man stating he works on an oil rig in the North Sea. He said his name is Philip Miller and has no family. He sent her two pictures, which we have since learned are of a gentleman who lives in Northwest Territory, and is NOT named Philip Miller. My mother has made several attempts to send money to this person, transactions my brother and I were fortunate to intervene and prevent. Mother is still buying the scam even though a lot of people she know and trusts have told her it is fake. She continues to talk to this person on WhatsApp. We are becoming increasingly frustrated at her stubbornness. I am certain this is a scam and would like to file a report with BBB. Please contact me.
