Type of a scam Employment

I was sent an email from someone with the email [email protected] about a job offer. I was then told to download an app called Telegram(which is a legitimate messaging app) to conduct set up an interview with someone named Pamela Henderson. I was suspicious but was curious about what this could be about so I contacted the person and proceeded to go through the interview. 10 minutes after the "interview" I was told I had the job. Pamela sent me a job description and told me that I would be working from home until the 28th of Jan and then I was told an office in my location was being built and that I would move there on Jan 28th. In the mean time they said a check would be sent to me to purchase software that I would need to do my job. They then asked for my name, home address, phone numbers, and email address. I asked them to provide me with a formal offer letter and new hire paper work but they told me they didn’t need anything from me but to be able to report to work everyday at 8 am. I reiterated my request for a offer letter and new hire paperwork and I never heard back from them. I didn’t give them any information. At this point I accepted that this was a scam job offer. I called the company they were masquerading as and a spokesperson he confirmed my suspicions. He says that he has had multiple calls from people telling him the same thing. The company advertised is called AB Engineering and is based out of California. They are not responsible for this scam.
