I was called by this number and they said I was randomly chosen for an Illinois grant to receive monies. I answered some simple basic questions that required limited information. Then I was asked to purchase a google play card and call back. I purchased a Google play card online and called back. Then they started asking for a 20 digit number associated with my google play card. I was unable to provide this. I would like to know if this is legal.

They called two times before with no Awncer on the other side of the phone. When the lady with thick middle eastern accent did awncer she gave me a name, and told me they were from Bethesda Maryland and that I had been selected to receive a government grant. Then she swiched me to a supervisor joe Williams who was also with thick middle eastern accent rattled off a badge number. After about 15 minutes he asked me to give him my prepaid cc # then he finally said that I Needed to go and get an apple card and put money for a registry fee but after I was done with registration i could use it to buy anything apple with the card and that the money for the grant would be put onto the prepaid cc. When I told him that I couldn’t afford to do that he begged me to do everything I could to get the money. He even called me back to see if I had gotten the money or not. When he called back it sounded like a party atmosphere instead of a business.
