New Leaf Marketing

Rachel – Jan 25, 2021

The rep came to my door offering sales of children’s books. She seemed polite, and not threatening in any way. I just now realized I never received my order that I was hoping to get for Xmas for my granddaughters. After some research I see now, my good nature and hospitality was taken advantage of. So disappointing and frustrating that I was taken in so easily. This was in October 2020.

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

An individual from New Leef Marketing came to my door to sell me books as part of a mentorship program. Their sales receipt is fake and their website is questionable at best.

Door to door reg Brenda Johnson was very nice and personable and talked about the company helping build self esteem to black women. She gave me a tablet and had the website pulled up. The sale was to purchase a book to be donated to a school in Indiana. I asked why she was doing this in Ohio why the books weren’t being donated to Ohio schools and she said Covid is preventing that. I had a 20$ bill on me so I gave her the money and she provided me with a receipt.

After I left I realized I may have been scammed into something so I did some digging on Facebook and Google and they don’t seem to be legit. Dayton Children’s Hospital cited them as a scam.

A representative from New Leaf Marketing showed up at our house uninvited claiming to be in a mentorship program learning professional skills, networking, etc. then proceeded to ask for a donation for books. Many neighbors have had similar experiences with this organization but provided credit card numbers and have been hacked. The person was NOT wearing a mask.
