Type of a scam Employment
I received an email from a company claiming to be Secret shoppers. They were looking for people to work as mystery shoppers. I indicated I was interested as I was out of work. I was then asked to send my resume to them. I emailed my resume to them. They asked for more info. My full name, address and bank that I dealt with. They asked what I was doing if I was working. I indicated I was unemployed. They indicated that they would mail a cheque for $400. to me and once I receive it I was to cash it and complete my first assignment. I was given instructions to choose a bank and report how the service was. The cheque was supposed to cover any meals and mileage if I had to drive anywhere. I have all the emails saved. I received a cheque for $1,983.70 in the mail with further instructions.
The letter head appeared questionable as well I have not signed any kind of contract or documents to be mystery shopper.
My spouse is an attorney he indicated to me that I should contact the Police and the Better Business Bereau as it appears to be a scam.
The cheque is from Canada Life Financial Corporation. I didnt cash the cheque so they weren’t able to get any -money from me. I sent a photo of the cheque but I have a photo of the letter too. Contact name is: John Dalton [email protected]
