Person responded to my Craig’s list vehicle sale add and asked me to get a report for my truck which was similar to a Carfax report. It cost 15.00. They never respond once you generate the report

Posted Craigslist ad for $3500 Toyota Prius. Buyer immediately reached out and claimed interest and then asked that I grab a VIN check from the website found at the domain provided. Very sketchy website and buyer went dark when being told I could provide a Carfax report already available rather than paying $15 for the service suggested by text.

I listed my car for sale on Craigslist. Within a few hours, an out of state ph texted me, interested in buying the car. 2nd text asked me if I could get a vehicle history report and sent me a link to MyAutoHistoryReport.com. Cost $14.99. Report is complete crap, no real info. I fell for it. Don’t you fall for it. Let the buyer do their due diligence.

I am selling a car online and someone reached out and asked that I pay for VIN history report. I have a carfax available so I found this request odd. After researching online, I found that this was a scam that was growing popular in Houston.

I listed a car foe sale on Craigslist and I received a text inquiry stating, "Very interested, Can you try to get a vehicle VIN report for me from vinreports.co/?44137." The link took me to the following website: myautohistoryreport.com
The report purchase amount was $14.99 and the website looked legit, so I completed the purchase. When finalizing the online purchase, the app never completed the transaction and then emailed me a blank report. It was then that I became suspicious and started researching the scam. I’ve checked my credit card account and $14.99 was charged, but no report was produced. I texted back the crook and said, "I just got scammed huh?" no reply
