Type of a scam Rental
A “Mr. David” posted a Craigslist ad for a rental we own in Portland, Oregon. He used the “Rently” app to gain access to the lock box and made copies of the keys, which he then placed in hidden places on the property and directed interested parties to them, stating the lock box was not working. We became aware quickly by the ad he placed on Craigslist along with text messages by me pretending to be an interested party. A police report has been filed, the Rently box has been removed and we only hope no one sent the scammer any money in the hopes of renting the home far below market value with the option of purchasing. DO NOT USE RENTLY. IT IS NOT SECURE. We are dealing with the property management company we hired to never use Rently for any reason (even during the COVID-19 epidemic).
