I received a call from the listed person, and James Kennedy last Friday Afternoon, telling me that I was a “Lucky Winner”, and in order to receive the prize, all I had to do is to pay $1,500, a “Stamp Tax” so they could bring my winnings across State Lines. Once I told them I would not be able to pay the fee until the 3rd of April, they said that they would send me the information about what account at Wells Fargo Bank to deposit the funds into. Once they were notified that the deposit had been made, the “Reward Squad” would be dispatched to the closest Airport the next day, and that they would come to our home to present us Cash And a New Mercedes!

I received a call from a man named Larry Ash stating I was the winner of the Mega Millions and the amount of my check was 4.5 Million and they are trying to deliver it to me and want to do so today. First, I need to take $750 to Walmart and make a Walmart to Walmart transaction; send funds to Stephanie Winter (Court Administrator, Brooklyn, NY). He said Walmart will give me a receipt of my $750 transaction and I would then show that receipt number along with 2 forms of ID to the people that are waiting to deliver my $4.5 million check. During the conversation, he did mention a local man named Donald Schneider in Colorado Springs that does the same thing that he does but just at a local level. I ask if I could check the info with the Better Business Bureau and he (to my surprise) encourage me to do so. I confirm his number to call him back after checking with BBB, then said good-bye. I then went to ScamPulse.com website and did find a similar scam that occurred in November 2019. I did call "Mr. Ash" back and told him of my findings and ask to be removed from their call list. He told me I was making a big mistake and turning down millions of dollars. I told him my choice to do so and said good-bye……….My overall concern is that the caller was very good until he asked for the $750 Walmart transaction. When I questioned having to give any funds to receive a prize, I was told that is necessary for prizes over 2 million dollars.

The first call came in about 3 or 4 days ago and they told me they were with Mega Millions. Then they told me I won money, they said I won 2.7 million dollars. Then I asked them what company they were with, and they were with Mega Millions. I first talked to John Anthony then he had something else that wanted to get my personal information, it was called a PI4 or PL4 I am unsure exactly. I didn’t give them any information. They said they had sent me a letter, and I let them know I will wait to receive the letter until speaking with them. They called several times since then. Today there was a change John called himself John Reed and I let him know he was John Anthony before. Then I asked him what Micheal’s last name who works with him is, and he said Anderson. The first day he was Micheal Lopez and also called this person an agent. The reason I asked for the name again is because the amount had changed to a 3 million figure from 2 million. This was very confusing.

They called me from a number that showed Jamaica on the caller id. They informed me that I had won $950,000 because I had used a credit card which entered me in the contest. They said I would have to call them back. I never did and they called again the next day. This time is was a lady, once again with a Jamaican accent, and she said I had won $9.5 million and I would need to pay the taxes and fees to receive the check. She said If I didn’t pay it they would give it to a charity. I told them that was fine. Once again they called me today and said it was $950,000 and that I would need to pay $800 for a stamp of government approval and a stamp of ownership and told me to call him back at this number 702-789-1619. I told him I didn’t have any money and my credit cards were maxed out. He asked me what my cash advance limit was on my card and that they could pay it off so that I could get a cash advance out. He wanted to call my credit card company and then call him back. He eventually called back and said so I guess you are not interested. I said no not if I have to pay to get the money. He then hung up.

In June 2016 this scam called my mother telling her she won $450,000. She paid insurance money of $600 in August 2016. They claim the award would expire on 08-26-16. She did not receive the money I called them and they said we needed to pay for storage, but I don’t remember this amount, I think it was around $800. On 09-23-16 I paid another $800 to have this money switched to my name. All this money was wire transferred to them. After i paid this amount they said they would deliver the prize that day between the hours of 9AM and 11AM on 09-24-16. I have been talking to Frank Miller who originally told us we needed to pay $2500 and they would get us a sponsor. The insurance money went to a person named Betty who lives in New York.

The ID number, security code is GOV0777.

I was contacted by the Financial Officer of MegaMillions, who told me that I was the first place winner. The prize was $35 million and a luxury automobile. The phone number the call came from was : 1-234-386-2030; Waynesburg, OH The name of this person was given as Davidson Goldberg. When I asked for more information, he stated that a coupon had been submitted into a drawing. I do not remember filling out any type of coupon. I then asked for a web site and I was transferred to another individual – Victoria Simmons who gave me the website address: www.megamillions.com. I did not check the website out as I was afraid they might be able to capture information off of my computer despite me having a firewall and anti-virus software. I did not stay on the phone long enough to hear the full pitch after I received the website address; so I do not know if I was going to be required to send them any money.

Mega Millions, Mid Eastern accent named John Marshall, his phone 646-502-9019 NY, said I was to be contacted by Bank of America Bruce Thompson phone 225-477-4818 (funny this number kept trying to beep- in while I was talking to the first guy) Wanted money to release the money that I had won. I never enter sweepsteaks or buy lottery tickets so I knew this was a scam but I tried to get as much info to report them.

Another clue was Bank of America calling me on a Sunday. He said he was sorry for calling on Sunday even though it was after banking hours. Another clue this was fake.

Another clue, John could not pronounce the name of the street I lived on. He tried to verify it but I would not give him the correct pronounciation of my street because any American would know how to pronounce it.

I received a call letting me know that I had won 5.5 million dollars and it was waiting for me at the Edmonton International Airport and they asked if I would be home today to receive the money personally. I was told that the money was being accompanied by FBI Agent Mark Peterson.

I tried to do *69 on the phone but it did not come up with a phone number that called me so I could not confirm it came from the airport.

I was given a phone number to call 1-876-886-0231 and was told I needed to pay $180 for insurance.

I called the phone number and spoke to Robert Hadams (spoke with a strong accent) who told me he was from Mega Millions in Toronto Ontario. He then asked if I paid the $180. When I asked him what that was for he said CRA so they could deliver my winnings.

When I told him I did not believe him he pressured me to explain why I did not believe him so he could do better next time.

We have received at least a dozen calls from an out-of-area number. Each time, the caller says they are from either Mega Millions or something similar. We have won first, second, or third prize, with the prizes ranging from $500,000 to 2 million dollars. For only a small fee, ranging from $100 to $1700, depending on the caller, we can receive the winnings. All we have to do is give them our bank account number. They will wire the money straight to our account. Persistent little pests!

Last Tuesday they told her they deposited over $18,000 directly into her checking account and they asked her to go to a different bank and write two checks for ‘cash" for $9,500 each. The scammer never deposited any money in to her account. They keep promising day after day they will fly a helicopter from Las Vegas to her house and deliver briefcases of cash but they keep making new excuses why they never show up and they claim the blame is on UPS for not delivering something.
