Total money lost $3,000
Type of a scam Employment
Martin Tucker emailed me to hire me as a production assistant for his upcoming film that was shooting in Los Angeles. He sent me a check for $5500, which I deposited. Out of that money I was supposed to pay key parts of the production, so I sent three money orders totaling $2850 to Tyler A King (1721 eagle st, New Orleans, LA 70118 – Martin said Tyler was finishing up working on a film in New Orleans). I was also asked to venmo the sound producer Franz Neil Reola. After I sent the money orders, the check that Martin wrote me was withdrawn from my account as insufficient. My bank said they could not verify the check or get in touch with Martin. I did not know it takes 7 days for a check to fully clear.
Martin Tucker has now stopped responding to me and I am out of pocket $3000 (including the $50 I spent sending priority overnight mail). I know this is my fault for being guliable, but I thought it was safe once the check hit my account. I am devastated.
