Type of a scam Identity Theft
I have received two letters from SafeLink phone service advising of a Jessica Mercado (who resides in Florida) receiving phone service from them. She is using my home address in California and she has never lived at this address (we built this house and have lived in it since it was built). I have contacted SafeLink twice (Nov 28, 2016 and Dec 9, 2016) but they could not find any record of her using this address (although their computers have sent us two letters with her name and my address). They claim they have a number of phone listings with them for Jessica Mercado. The first letter was a notice that she needed to activate her phone ( I called and advised them to place a hold on that request) and the second was a notification that the phone had been activated). I called again today, but they had no record of her at my address and could not help.
Additionally, my bank notified me about a month ago that someone in Florida had claimed to have lost their credit card (actually mine) and requested a duplicate sent to Florida. We cancelled that card.
I am concerned that this person is attempting identify theft and request your help in preventing it.
