Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief
I received a real-looking check and stating I am pre-approved for a debt consolidation loan at 3.98% interest. I called the number provided, but but it was just for an answering service that then gave my information to a financial advisor at Finance Solutions who called me back and requested additional information in order to do a credit "soft inquiry", and then several days later reported to me that my credit card balance to limit ratio was too high for the loan (he used only 1 of my 5 cards to illustrate this ratio, which is deceptive because this ratio should take into account the total balance to limit of all cards, which in my case was under 20%, even though the one card he used as an example was 80%), but that I qualified for a debt restructuring program, at which point I politely declined. However, I am still getting phone calls and e-mails from this financial advisor despite stating that I am not interested in their program. It appears that Finance Solutions uses "front companies" such as "Trout Associates" and "Interstate Associates" (I have received identical letters from both of these "front companies") in order to deceive the scam victim.
