I received a call the other day. I picked up the phone because it was flashing Discover Card on my caller ID. They represented themselves as Discover. I do not have their phone number. The caller was foreign and difficult to understand. stated they could lower my interest rate to 1.6%. They would work with Discover. I said can you guarantee that rate when I receive my statement. Then he put his manager on the line. We went round and round. I was upset. They knew my balance and when my payment was due. They already knew my interest. I called Discover Card and had to change everything. My card and account number. I did call Discover and discussed the call with them. Told consumer they do not have that type of a call center. They never called back.

I received a phone call from someone saying they were from Discover credit card company. She said she would like to help me reduce my interest rate on my credit card. She had all of my card numbers and asked me to verify the last 4 digits and expiration date. She then had all of the correct numbers – my balance, last amount paid and date of payment. She said her name was Mia James ID # 233 and I could call Discover to verify. Then she said my interest rate was already at zero and she couldn’t help me and immediately hung up. I immediately called discover to talk to them about this phone call. They said that name and ID number was invalid and she was not from Discover. She helped me put a freeze on my account so no additional charges would go thru. I later called the phone number that the call came from and the message said – "hello, if you would like to be placed on a Do Not Call List for the number that called you, please press 1 now. Sorry for any inconvenience.
