Type of a scam Family/Friend Emergency
Person called said my son was in jail and he had a $200 bond for an unpaid speeding ticket. The guy said his name was Travis Nelson and that he was with the bail bond company. He said I needed to go to CVS or Walgreens to get a Green dot money pak card. When I questioned why I couldn’t use my debit card he said no has to be on this card. He wanted to know how long it would take me to get the card and when I told him he called back at that time. It all sounded strange but my gut feeling told me to call my son and he said he was home and wasn’t in jail that this had to be a scam. While talking with my son this man called back and I told him that I was going to the sheriff’s office to report him because I just talked to my son. Then the man said someone called them saying they were my son. I went to the county jail visiting center and explained what happened and they didn’t have anyone locked up even using my son’s name. They gave me a number to call and report it to the main sheriff’s office. Now all of this took place after 6pm last night when it was dark. I did call the sheriff’s office and they said it was a scam and referred me to your number. What made this scam so believable is that they had my son’s full name and they called me on my cell number. Thank God for looking out for me!!
