Type of a scam Phishing

We received an email presumably from Centurylink stating that "your online account has been flagged as you were trying to login with a wrong password for more than 9 times". It further states that they will put a security hold on our account and says to "click here" to verify our account information. I consulted with Centurylink and they told me they did not generate this email. But, to be safe, I changed our Centurylink password. Two days later I received an identical email from "Centurylink" plus a second identical email, this time from "Amazon". I have not followed up on these two emails as I’m convinced they are attempts to gather our account information.

Called Identifying themselves as "Centurylink." They knew the services I had, the date they started, when I canceled services and the offer that was made to keep me as a customer. Shortly after I went to the Centurylink website and had new internet charges added to my account. Centurylink told me it was a scam and removed from my account

A number of my neighbors have had "sales Rep" for CenturyLink coming to our doors after 7:30 PM. Pushy. Insisting they come in and review our Internet service. None had ID or even brochures. In several cases the "rep" kept pounding on the door even after asked to leave. I spent over an hour online and calling CenturyLink to make them aware and to complain. Not one of the eight people I connected with could help or knew what to do. I was told there is a fraud department but no one knew how to reach that department. CenturyLink is installing fiber cable in our are and that seemed to be the motivation for all these door solicitations, from "fake" reps.

Received call from someone claiming to be from CenturyLink, female, "I’m from CenturyLink, calling to let our customers know that we are partnering with Discount Long Distance company in an effort to save consumers $9 out of $18 paid each month. I need to know your full name (not just initial), DOB, and further questions regarding your personal information."

I asked her for her name and number so I could call CenturyLink and ask if she as indeed from the company.

When I asked her for that information, she got upset and advised that she could get all my personal information online and she was trying to save me time and money.

I advised that I was going to be calling CenturyLink directly and she became very upset and yelled at me and then disconnected the call.
