This is the station I go to for the majority of my gas and I always try to use the same pump closest to the front of the store if it’s open. A couple weeks ago I used my credit card at the pump and the next day my credit card company alerted me to a fraudulent charge for a gas purchase in another state of $112.00. I said I didn’t make the charge and they declined the transaction.
Last night I used my debit card at the same location and pump and suddenly today I have 2 fraudulent charges on my debit card. I was lucky my bank caught the larger purchase of $105.44 and I notified them I didn’t make the purchase as I’ve been at work all morning and they declined the transaction. A smaller purchase of $2.00 for a soda was pending on my account and I didn’t make that purchase either. I’m disputing the $2.00 charge with my bank. My debit card has been cancelled and a new card is on it’s way to me.
This is the only place I go where I use my chip enabled credit/debit cards outside and the next day had someone trying to use my credit/debit card numbers to make purchases. If I go back here I will only pay for gas inside where I have to use my chip card or pay with cash, but I probably won’t go back here due to this continued issue.
I’ve never had any previous issues with my card numbers being stolen and have had my debit card for years and I store all my credit/debit cards in RFID blocking card protectors. It’s highly suspicious that my card numbers would be stolen twice within 2-3 weeks and this is the only place I don’t use a chip reader machine to process the payment.
