Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill
the first email from J W Publication came in on November 5 @ 12:24AM, the second came in on Nov 12 @ 10:50AM. There was another email but it was deleted. The email came into our [email protected] email address. That alone raises too many questions and red flags. The email says our invoice is now over due and the amount is $749.95 CAD. The due date is Oct 14, 2018, but I never received anything until after that date passed. I have not opened the attachment as I am concerned about malware or other viruses, etc. This is such a total scam. The email looks official but there are some oddities and they even included the PayPal logo on the email. The email came from: [email protected] and the reply-to is listed as: [email protected]
That sounds legitimate, doesn’t it??
I looked up this online and there are many reports if this type of scam going around. They send out fake invoices to company’s in the hopes that they will pay the invoice without looking too much at it. Well my company only has 2 people, so if I didn’t sign up, it isn’t real. I hope my reporting helps prevent others from getting trapped by these people. I really hope the police are actually trying to catch these crooks.
