I listed a purse on Poshmark, an app used to sell designer clothing/bags etc. I was contacted by this person, who asked for my email to inquire for the purse, and we had a lengthy conversation back and forth. His/her English was very poor, but the image on the Gmail contact was of an elderly white woman. They told me that they would send me a check for the purse, and have a personal mover come pick up the package for me, to then send to him/her. I told them I wasn’t comfortable with that and they insisted that they pay me an extra $60 to give to the mover.
I insisted that the check be made out for the cost of the purse ($150) and nothing more, or less. When I finally received the check, it was intercepted by the post office, and I was called into an office in the back, where I was interrogated by several managers and investigators. They asked me what was in the package, and then had me open it in front of them. The check was for $1,050, and they seized it and called authorities. I have since received another email from this person, (a year later) saying that another check was in the mail.
