Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I was looking for Mystery Shopper job opportunities. I used the website to send my resume. I got a check for the amount of $2420.00, requesting that I deposit it into my bank account; along with a letter explaining to go get prepaid Walmart cards and evaluate customer service. Close to the end of the letter it said to send pictures of the gift cards front and back with the PIN number scratched off and visible. I closely examined the check looking for signs of actual security features. The document said there were security features. I also noticed the signature on the check was a digital copy of a signature, not actually pen to paper. The graphics on the check also looked like something printed from a computer rather than a legitimate check from a financial institution. A few days later I received a text message saying that I should be getting a package, and to have the assignment completed. I tore it up because I did not want anyone to get my personal information from it or try to deposit the phoney check.
