Type of a scam Employment

I filled out a job application through indeed and then received a text and invite through google hangouts for a job interview. After answering job related questions was told I got the job and would be sent a laptop through FedEx and the next day received a check for $3,500 and told to purchase the laptop and other office supplies. At that point I said I was not comfortable with that and communication stopped. I took the check to the fraud department at my bank and reported it.
