Type of a scam Credit Cards
I received a text signed with my clergy’s name, asking if I could chat. I said yes, to please call me. The scammer then said, that (My clergy) was in a meeting and could not talk. He then asks if I could do him a favor? Thinking it’s my clergy, I immediately say YES… The scammer then when on to tell me a story about a cancer patient in the hospital who is having a birthday (My clergy) has to go visit the patient at the hospitalized wants to give them a last gift. (I called the Clergy’s secretary to verify when I got suspicious) and realized it was a scam.
However, I wanted to know what the scam consisted of: They were asking me to get a $200.00 gift card, but instead of dropping it off to scratch take a picture and send the information. The scammer was extremely pushy and kept texting asking me to complete the task.
