Type of a scam Yellow Pages/Directories
Our company received a fax requesting an update for the Yellow Pages (Virginia). The contact information they showed to have on file was a previous address. On the page it was clearly printed "THIS IS NOT A BILL." Unfortunately, I corrected the contact information and signed the bottom. The wording is very deceptive and again states that this is not a bill or invoice or account due to be paid and you are under no obligation to make any payment (unless …you accept the terms of this purchase order). In very tiny print it mentions something about a contract term of 2 years for $199 per month. A month later they send a bill and if you don’t pay it appears that it has been sent to a collection agency, Open Business Solutions. Their representatives are extremely polite and seem like they are negotiating a deal for you to cancel this all for an administrative fee of $594. Fortunately, we did some research and did not pay them. We asked them to cease and desist all communication with our company.
