Selling car on Craigslist, emailed us asking about any problems. We had gotten a title check from another company and sent that to him. Few days later called to see if he had gotten everything and was he still interested. He emailed us with an exact statement as quoted on these ! We were just looking into doing it when I saw this article and read it. Reading the first one was like reading our email, then to see it almost duplicated verbatim ! Thanks to all who reported their experience ! Saved us !

To be able to come ,see,test and make a deal for it face to face,i need the report so i can pass it to my loan officer and make sure he will allow me to buy it.I need the report because the loan company ask for it please go to https://www.worldtitlefax.com/ and get one. will not make sense for me to get one because i can`t re use it like you can , you will be able to give it to all you potential buyers , me on the other hand if will not be ok i will gave to look for a new vehicle and get a new report .I know is only $25  but if i have to run 5 reports until i find an ok report where will i be ?If the report will be ok you can consider it sold.regards

I had exactly the same experience with the same email content from [email protected]:

This is the second person contacting me via Craigslist wanting my email so they could communicate with me easier. Sounding very interested in my vehicle asking me to send them a car report that their loan officer required. As far as I can determine Worldtitle fax.com is a bogus company and the customer interested in my vehicle is doing a little phishing. Be extra cautious when dealing with Craigslist.

I was emailed about a car I posted for sale on craigslist and was asked to give my personal email instead of the automatically generated Craigslist email so that the emailer’s husband could email me later. I did (I have a separate Craigslist email address I use) and the "husband" eventually asked me to provide a "Title Report" on https://worldtitlefax.com/. This requires a $25 fee. I asked them to meet in person, but they refused.

Beware Scam! Received exact same email as other people here regarding sale of my car. Buyer wanted me to go to this website to buy a “title search”, went by the name Zachary with email at [email protected]

Had the same experience, actually word for word the same emails as posted above. Not sure what the end game is, but just seemed strange from the start.

Listed a car for sale on Craigslist, Canada.
I had a feeling it’s a scam, as they mention taking a loan for a cheap second hand car.
The emails replicate the posts above, hence its a scam. Do not fall for it.

Email 5: i have click on the website and i have seen that is a secure one.Always
look for a green padlock to be sure that it’s secure!The https means
it’s a secure encryption.

P.s. Refrain from these scams. Report them ASAP.

I don’t know what the end game of this scam is but I put a truck for sale on Craigslist. There were a couple other obvious scams but this one sought my confidence in a couple of personal emails before asking to go to the World Title Fax company and get a ‘title report’ they could show their loan officer. The link they sent was official looking and in the end I just responded to their email by saying "why don’t I just send you the title and you can bring it back when you buy it?" ……………. I didn’t hear back.

Checking on this website confirmed my suspicions that its a scam.

The person contacted me about purchasing a car I have for sale. He insisted that I use a specific VIN reporting service and would not move forward to talk about the car in any detail unless I provided a report from that site. Here’s an example email from him after I provided a Carfax report:

"i`m sorry , that you did not read my emails, i can`t use it .

the bank is expecting me to provide a VIN report from https://www.titlesfax.com for the vehicle i will like to buy in order to approve my loan application .
