Type of a scam Employment
This supposed "William Dorman" hired me to be his virtual assistant on freelancer.com. I did think it was strange because he came to me randomly. I didn’t bid on his project, but I figured he read my biography and saw that I have a passion for art. This was on August 24, 2020, so about three weeks ago. He said he’d be paying me $300 a week and I haven’t been paid yet. So I’ve been cheated out of $900 that I earned through labor. I asked why there’s no documents to verify me or confirm I’m his employee and he said freelancer already protects you. I don’t know how true that is anymore. I looked up his supposed art institute when he "hired" me and I didn’t even find an address. There was no website but he asked me to make a website for him so I let that one slide. He gave me a schedule I wasn’t fond of; it was a morning one and I’m no early bird but I only had to work two hours. I had trouble creating the website and I was really trying. I never been that technologically savvy but I’m enthusiastic about work. The scammer even complimented me on my readiness. I was $1,498 deposited over time that I’d be ordered to distribute in pieces to three random recipients through Zelle. His username on freelancer is xegagic463. He asked me to create a google hangout account for him. I created another gmail in general. He claims to be a painter. He shared a google drive folder of all his supposed "artworks" with me. His phone number being 8564413259 would mean he lives in New Jersey with that area code but he told me he lives in California. He didn’t specify what city or province. I was so sure this was a legitimate job. I applied for a scholars program and I put "William Dorman" down as my employer. If I’m not accepted, it very much possible it’s because they tried to reference this "William Dorman" and found nothing so now I look like a liar. This entire time I was convinced I was employed but I’m really not. I began to question a week ago, why he can send money to be paid out but won’t pay me. There was always an excuse or he’d ignore me.
