Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

WFM Global Consumer Research Services Inc., who represented Best Buy Electronics in advertising research services. This WFM Global Consumer Research Services Inc., claims to represent Best Buy Electronics in an approved survey number 007832. An “official check” in the amount of $1822.00 was sent to me to cover the survey assignment bills, evaluation costs, and my survey commission fee payment of $300.00. $1822.00 is to be used to buy three Best Buy Gift Cards in the amount of $500 each from any of the following stores: CVS, Walmart, Publix, Kroger, and Walgreens(ETC). I was told to deposit $1822.00 certified check into my bank account. My survey assignment is to evaluate any store selling Best Buy Gift Cards. I was ill when I received the “assignment“ and was unable to get to it for 3 or 4 days. I then received a threatening text that if I did not complete the assignment that they would contact the FBI. After receiving the text I researched the company further and found others that had completed part of the “assignment“ before a stop payment was applied to the check and they were out several hundreds of dollars. I reported the fraud to my credit union and fortunately did not lose any money to this scam.
