Total money lost $68

Type of a scam Identity Theft

I received a set of Apple iPods in the mail. With a request for payment of $398 (normally cost $130). I was in the process of buying a house and had filled out the Quicken Loans profile for a mortgage. So after realizing that this was fraud. I called the Company (Fingerhut) told them what had happened, returned their ipod (unopened) and requested they close the account. I also alerted Experian and asked that this be placed in the fraud department. I have never opened a Fingerhut account. Honestly, I didn’t know they were still in business.

Go figure: Who opens a credit account in the early stages of buying a house?

Fast forward: They finally closed the account. Which dropped my credit score. And now I am being charged $68. And if I don’t pay it this will be placed on my credit. Highway robbery!
