Type of a scam Tech Support
Our family received a phone call stating that our internet service provider was reporting viruses on our computer. The caller would fix our problems.
The caller then convinced my family to run a .exe file which allowed the caller to access our computer and perform a cleanse. After the cleanse was complete, the caller requested a $199 charge via credit card. We luckily cancelled the charge before it was completed.
My biggest fear is that this individual accessed our computer and the person information within.
