Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes
Received a call from a restricted number on my cell phone. The caller claimed that I was randomly selected through a Walmart contest for a Debit Card use that I had done at the store. I was the winner of $13.5 Million Dollars. I immediately thought scam, but thought I would play along and see what they were offering. The caller asked if I wanted to proceed with a public disclosure of the prize or confidential. Claimed that I needed to pay $500 to get the initial government approval that I acknowledge that they would pay the taxes (Ha!). They said all I needed to do was go to Walmart and use my debit card to withdraw the money. I told him at this point that I know this is a scam and that there was no way that I was going to give them any money. He continued to try and convince me at which point I said good bye and hung up. He called back several times over a couple of days and eventually gave up.
