Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
After placing an antique organ on Craigslist for sale, I was approached, via e-mail, by Melanie Peterson, who was interested in purchasing the organ. . She was so excited, she was going to offer an extra $50 to hold the organ.
She also, through a second e-mail, said that she would be sending me a check, via FED Ex, which did arrive, as scheduled today. The check was for additional shipping charges, which I would be asked to pay the freight company, when they arrived.
She was adamant that I cash the check ASAP, as was her husband, Thomas Peterson, who also texted me about the check, and how critical it was to "deposit the check."
