I’m not quite sure what Venmo is up to but there sure are plenty of scams reported here: https://www.consumeraffairs.com/finance/venmo.html
One of which I refused to be part of. I have only used my Venmo account about a dozen times and mostly for rent payments from tenants.I get a suspicious email telling me that I need to send a federal ID with a photo of myself to Venmo for verification. I tossed the email thinking it was junk mail but later realized that my Venmo account had been frozen by Venmo for real. I can not get any answers as to why it was frozen and as I read through dozens of complaints on the above linked website, I found that I was not alone. I will close my account after trying to get answers by calling them and getting no where. This is surely not right. NO ONE SHOULD EVER EMAIL PHOTO ID EVER.
