Type of a scam Tech Support
I received a message on my laptop that it was about to crash. For me to call this number which I did. I was told they were from Microsoft and they could fix my problem. They gave me a number to put in so they could take control of my laptop which I did. They also said they charged $299.00 and told me once when they finished they would give me a number to keep just in case someone tried to scram me . They said if anyone else called ask then what my number was first so I would know they won’t scammers, and they would call me the next day to make sure everything was working fine. The next day I received a call thinking it was then and was asked what my number was. I gave then my number and they proceed to take over my laptop again and I saw then taking all my security icons off and then I saw teen porn coming up on my screen. My phone rings and it was the first people from the night before. I told then what was going on and they told me to shut down my laptop because I could get in trouble with the government. Then I was told to let then take control and they could fix all of this for a fee of $3900.00. I panic and told then ok. They told me to write a check in that amount and UPS would pick it up the next day which I did and UPS pick the check up. The address they gave me was downtown Baltimore City. After thinking about all of this and my husband telling me they are scammers I put a stop payment on the check and closed my checking account and took my laptop to the [ trusted tech support professionals] *** *** at *** *** to have then check my laptop out. They took everything off the scammers put on and made my laptop secure again. My problem now is the scammers keep calling my landline and tonight they have gotten my cell phone number still looking for the $3900.00 dollars. I want to know how can I stop then for calling me?
