Type of a scam Phishing
I received a yellow postcard in the mail that indicated I should call about "an important matter regarding this loan." I called the number where I was asked to enter the Mortage ID# from the post card. (The card showed 1714-695-048.) This is not how USAA does business and you are always asked for your member ID and if you have two factor authentication, you are asked for a code that is texted or emailed to you. Because this was now how USAA works, I hung up. I then called a known USAA number to confirm that this was indeed a scam. I do not know the end-game of this scam because I did not pursue it further. I assume it was a phishing scam, or it could have involved money. No idea.
