Total money lost $499
Type of a scam Tech Support
May 2016 – Bogus Norton Security website had scam customer service #. When you call that # (unfortunately, I lost it) person answering pretends to be Norton Security rep. Tries to "help" but can’t, then refers you to Universal Network Solutions, LLC (UNS) at 1-877-247-5998. For $499 they "fix" your problem. Jan. 2018 we began receiving multiple daily phone calls from UNS with same phone # saying they’ve detected a virus and it’s imperative we call them and allow them access to our computer to fix it. We contacted the real Norton/Semantec who checked out our computer and it is fine. We continue to get these calls, but not as often. Bogus website still comes up as a result when you Google Norton Security.

We were contacted by the Universal Network Solutions LLC about our computer not being protected. He went on to our computer to show us how we weren’t protected. He then asked if there was a Walmart near us so that I could pay them. Hello, Red Flag. As he was explaining how they could protect our computer I went on my phone and found out that there were complaints on the BBB. Also they were involved in a class action suit. When I confronted him with this he said it was a different company. Also in the beginning he asked why we hadn’t contacted them for a year. He then proceeded to say they had changed the phone number. From 844-452-3862 to an 800 number. 800-492-7909.
