I received phone call from a Mr. *** *** who said he was a representative of U.S. Federal Agriculture Grain Department. He said he would like to present me with a check for $8,000 and he needed either a checking account number or a credit card number to process the deposit. I told him I would like to check this out online and would call him back.
The number he gave me to call back on was *** ***. However, the number he called me on was *** ***.
I looked up the phone number for the Department of Agriculture’s Portland field office and spoke to ***. He told me there is no one there or at any federal office who would call me and request this type of information. He said if they had a refund for me, everything would be sent via certified mail.
