Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes
I was contacted by phone from a person saying he was from the U.S. Consumer Investigation Corp. He left a phone number and his name on my home phone. When I returned his call I was told I had won a prize back in January 2016 that I never claimed. He didn’t know if it was a gift card to some store or something substantial. I was given a phone number to call Corporate Media Awards. When I called I was told I had won second prize of $915,000. If I wanted it delivered to my home in *** I would have to get a federal I.D. bond which would cost $2,697. If I wanted to pick up the money in N.Y. I would be subject to the N.Y. gaming tax of 8%. I have to claim my prize by 3/1/18 or forfeit it. Needless to say I will forfeit it, unless I hear from you. ( I started to answer the questions you have after this box. The scammer didn’t ask me for the money for the ID bond, but would refer me to someone that did that)
