Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
My 18 year old daughter posted her prom dress for sale on Poshmark. She was contacted with interest by an alleged Julie Capper (951-441-3829). Julie and my daughter agreed on pricing. Julie sent, what appeared to be a certified cashier’s check greater than the amount agreed – to supposedly compensate my daughter for her troubles – to acquire the dress. The check indicated *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** * *** *** *** ** *** ** *** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** of which we could not verify the legitimacy of *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***; nor the business. Julie requested my daughter to mail her the dress upon receipt and deposit of the check. My daughter requested Julie’s mailing address via email ([email protected]) 3 times and Julie failed to provide and affirm an address to deliver the dress. The address listed on the check did not match the business address found on the website *** For investigative purposes only – An investigation of the check and business is pending with our financial institution – with no intent to deposit check.
