I was online and all of a sudden a warning, visual and audible, took over my screen. I could not get out of it and it was saying my hard drive would be erased if I did not call and get it taken care of immediately. Like an [censored], I called, and they wanted anywhere from $100 for an immediate fix up to $500 for lifetime protection to fix it. I lucked out and my credit card declined, but I am worried they may have an ‘in’ into my computer. I am not tech savvy and felt this was possibly a scam from the beginning but was scared and afraid if I didn’t act right away I would lose everything on my hard drive. The guy on the phone had an India accent.
