Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I am a professional photographer. I Was contacted via email by David Netto who is an actual designer who is a regular contributor to Town And Country Magazine. That is all true. This was not from David Netto however. The email stated that Town and Country editor “David Netto” is looking to hire a photographer for an upcoming plus-sized model fashion shoot, and that I need to apply with my best work. I did. A few days later I was told I had got the job with a list of what was expected of me and that they would send me an advance check of $100K along with a contract. Just like that! That set off Red Flags for me. Too good to be true. After some back and forth emails I realized this was definitely not legit. And googling "Flaming Models" (the talent agency I was to make payments to from the aforementioned $100K) and "David Netto Scam" yielded more proof. There was never any phone number or address in the emails I received nor was there any mention of meeting with me or even speaking on the phone. Ridiculous! I ended all communication abruptly. I lost no money and gave no personal info save for my phone number and address. But I did end up wasting a few days sending emails back and forth and reaching out to a producer friend to help me draw up a budget. Lost some time but thankfully that was all.
