Type of a scam Employment
I was asked for my resume by a company, they wrote back: "Hi *** [sic], thanks for the note back. I had a chance to review your resume and check it against all of the open positions we are currently working on, unfortunately your background isn’t a good fit for what my client’s current open roles. That being said, you never know when I’ll get something in that might be a better match. I know how hard it is right now to find a job, especially if you are recent graduate with limited or no real experience. I don’t normally do this, but I’m happy to provide some feedback on your resume if you are interested? I see a couple of areas that you could improve that would greatly increase your odds of getting a job. If you’re interested, let me know and I am more than happy to give you some guidance."
I actually have a PhD from MIT and have been employed from the last 15 years as a professor in England; I just sent my CV because I’ve been searching for something closer to my husband’s new job at Princeton. So I suspect the "I don’t normally do this" means that it’s a scam. There’s a website associated with the email http://thomasandhunt.com/ but otherwise no record of this company I can find from Googling, and there’s no information on the website about who runs the company, or indeed any of its employees.
Right now there’s no damage done except wasting my time. I haven’t written her back again. If you want me to see where this leads I could email her back, but I’d only do that if you thought it was worth my time.
