Type of a scam Employment
Received e-mail notification about "personal secret shopper" opportunity. I completed application with my name (not full name as requested, just first and last), phone number, city/state. Received e-mail the next day saying I had been accepted for employment, that a check for $1500, plus $500 commission would be sent. After depositing check, I would be given an assignment to shop once or twice a week at a nearby store, then giving feedback to The Total Research Company. Since BBB was noted on the bottom of the ad, I checked under several different names for this company, found nothing, asked Total Research for their name "as listed with BBB". Received no answer, except e-mail that check was being mailed, instructions to visit my nearest Walmart, purchase $1500 worth of gift cards, scratch off various parts, use these cards to purchase future items for this co. Confusing and scam-worthy!
