Type of a scam Debt Collections
I received a phone call stating that my husband has a civil complaint against him and they are needing to serve court papers to him. Said we must call and make contact. So I called and they said they were an Attorney group trying to collect a debt my husband owed. The debt was something my husband owed. They said they had sent a letter offering a settlement of a lesser amount to clear the debt but it had expired since we never replied. They got approval to extend that if we could pay it that day instead of having to go to court. I told them we would have to call back to do this because I wanted to make sure this was a legitimate company first. When I tried to find this company online nothing was coming up. They are not listed with the BBB either that I could find. When I look up the address on google it shows this address to be a post office. Also when my daughter looked up the phone number it said it was a dangerous number and complaints were made that it was a collection agency harassing people about debts they did not owe. I believe this is a scam since I cannot verify this as a legitimate business.
