Type of a scam Tech Support

On March 20, 2018,While on Msn homepage, small icon told me 45 days remaining to renew my Msn siftware subscription. I clicked on it since it was how I renewed in past years. While attempting to renew, an error page came up, I tried it twice, same thing. It gave me a telephone number for Msn assistance, which I called; They told me my computer has been compromised by a Canadian site that prevented me from renewing. They insisted they were from Msn, and I believed them since they had last 4 digets of the Visa card# on file at Msn. They turned me over to a tech support who took over my computer; asked for password to restart a few times, also sent invoice for $269.99 that they want for cleaning computer and viris protection, webroot. They copied check from my printer, and had me mail hard copy to the Austin address. on 3-21-18 Msn told me it was a scam. I put stop payment on check, and canceled Visa card. They tried to intimidate us by numerous tel. calls days afterwards; called ID says MJ Corp, 229-256-2182. I am still working on restoring my computer from Geek squad @ Best Buy.
