While surfing the web, consumer received a pop-up error message that his computer may be infected. Consumer called the number on the error message, 855-755-1855, which was answered by Microsoft, and told he would be transferred to a tech. Consumer was told his computer had a trojan infection and the tech needed access to his computer, and an advance payment, to fix the problem. Consumer gave both access to his computer and a credit card number. About an hour later, the technician called back and said the bank is refusing to release the funds and asked the consumer to call the bank to authorize the release of funds to the company. Consumer called the bank and was told they have a red flag on this company and numerous other consumers who have disputed charges made by this company. The bank told the consumer it was a scam. Consumer immediately called the internet provided and cancelled internet services.
