Tech Club

Maria – Oct 21, 2020

I connected with Rand McNaly about getting map updates for my GPS. I’m told by the chat room person, they need to have a voice person contact me in 5 minutes. 15 minutes later, I receive a call from Tech Club. They’re telling me (and show me) a message that says my computer (who I foolishly allowed access thru a legit remote app) is infected with a Trojan. They pull up Notepad and start talking now about “cleaning my computer”. How a store will take many days. They show me some sort of log from August 21st, 2020 (Today is 10/21/20) that show “Mexican IP numbers” (HELL, I don’t know). SO, then the guy types the hard cell while talking to me on the phone. His company will clean my computer, install my maps, everything for “Only” 99 dollars”. At the same time I hard switched my computer and ended the phone call immeadiately. I have shut down all my personal banking cards and changed passwords via another computer I rarely use that wasn’t online…NOW, in the process of calling Rand McNally and roasting them alive before the end of the business day. I have blocked Tech Club’s number on all my phones and am now going about the task of wiping my system on my desktop. I should send Rand McNally/Tech Club a bill of several thousand dollars for my trouble.
