Type of a scam Employment
I was contacted by Kevin Harlow stating that they were looking for a graphic designer. I was told to submit my resume to [email protected] Once done, I was offered an interview with "Senior Recruiter" Mrs. Tanya Erbe on Google Hangouts with the email [email protected] The interview was strictly texting on Google Hangouts. The job offer was the role of Graphic Designer at Taylor Corporation. I would be working remotely and a check would be sent by the corporation to purchase supplies including laptop, desk, tablet, etc. for an office from THEIR vendor only. I was in the "interview process" for at least 2-3 hrs. I waited for an hour for the application to be reviewed and I was "hired". I was briefed for another 1-2hrs afterwards about the job. I was asked who do I bank with but was not asked any further financial/personal info besides career wise. Most of the process was me being told the job requirements, pay, etc. I was supposed to say "ok" as an acknowledgement. I was sent the check overnight from FedEx to "purchase" materials. The check was $6,643.27. After I was hired (before a check was sent) I got an offer letter to sign and was told to submit my ID which I did (they actually have a photo of my ID and signature!) Whoever these people are they have connections, experience, and they know the application process of hiring very well. I suspect they are working or had worked for Taylor Corporation. I did feel a little rushed to cash the check and I got quick responses. The interview was fairly simple but long. In a way I sensed a little bit of personality or attitude which is hard to (distinguish over text) when she told me the job task and asked me am I willing to do those task to which I replied "Yes!" with exclamation. My excitement could have been a bore to her because she continued with "Anyway, you will be undergoing training…". She said pay would be $35/hr. I wasnt told about who the vendors are (it was step-by-step) I couldnt get the info until AFTER the check cleared. I believed she got nervous when I told her FedEx wasnt sure of my location. They brought it hours later. I was tired that day from other things, it was getting late, and I didn’t want to cash it the same day. She asked "Can you deposit it today?" as if concerned. I told Tanya I would not cash it until the next day. I have not and WILL not cash the check. I called the Better Business Bureau and they suspected it’s a scam. I also called Taylor Corporation HR afterwards and they confirmed they are aware of a scam on Google Hangouts and it is being reviewed.
